Adding an announcement to your data asset is a clear, eye-catching way to call attention to an important feature or to identify a change coming down the pipeline.

Because the announcement feature shows who wrote it and when, you can easily identify if the announcement is still relevant and who to ask if you have questions.

What types of announcements would you want to share across your team? Here are a few examples:

  • We are updating this data asset next Tuesday!
  • Our engineering team is currently working on the bug that is breaking this schema. We are aiming to fix it in the next 24 hours.
  • Be careful with this data asset. It is feeding into a high priority dashboard that our C Suite uses!

πŸŽ‰ How to add an announcement to a specific page in Atlan

For example, let's start with an announcement in the glossary.

1️⃣ Step 1: Open the announcements window

From your Atlan home screen, head to the glossary workspace from the menu on the left-hand side. Locate this set of icons at the top of the page, and click the icon on the far right with three dots:

Choose the button with three dots to add an announcement.

2️⃣ Step 2: Write your announcement

Once you locate and click that icon, a window will pop up. This is where you can name your announcement and write a description.

3️⃣ Step 3: Publish your announcement

When you've finished writing up your announcement, hit "Update" to finalize your announcement. It will look like the screengrab below in the glossary section.

This announcement will appear for anyone who views this glossary. The same process applies for your asset profiles as well. 😎
